Every year, Bismarck State College Graphic Design and Communications students would spend the final days of class designing and separating screen prints, burning the screens and printing designs for their own personal t shirts. This year, however, the screen printing project was cut down to only printing one two-color sophomore design, instead of each student doing their own individual print.
Knowing this, I wanted my design to represent the program, while still being visually appealing to people that wouldn’t take the time to read the shirt. After some brainstorming, I decided I wanted to do a completely hand-rendered design to represent the combination of skills that designers have.
This t-shirt design was made successful due to the combination of hand-rendered text and illustrations, and was ultimately chosen to be printed for the GDCC graduating class of 2017.
